Hullo Students and welcome to my page!

I will be your tutor in this course Unit ICPMM263B: Access and the Use of the Internet and I am here to assist you with your learning

INDUCTION GUIDE FOR IT STUDENTS.docx

I will be posting various information about our course on this page.

The course will consist of 4 main components.

1. Face to face workshops
There will be a number of face to face workshops which will include simulated training activities which will be part of the assessment.
2. Self paced learning from Manuals
Students will be issued with Manuals which can be worked through at students own pace.
3. Participation in Virtual Classrooms
Students will come together regularly in our Virtual Classroom in Elluminate.
4. Contributions to a Wiki
“YNH Services Student Space” has been created to assist students in their learning.

I'm sure you have read through your induction guide and had followed instructions on how to create your page on the wiki.

One of the tools we will be using is a Virtual Classroom called Elluminate VOffice. The following link will take you to the Elluminate Participant Training page. To view a recorded Elluminate session click on the "Participant orientation" link for a quick 5 minute session on how to participate in an Elluminate classroom.

So, to get started I ask that you click on the "DISCUSSION TAB" and participate on the first discussion titled: E-LEARNING IN THE WORLD OF INTERNET. Make use of your manual and read them thoroughly. This will give you an insight of the topic discussed!

Happy learning, and if you are having any problems at all click on the envelope above and send me a message!

Cheers!

Hullo students,
It is nice see that some of you are applying yourselves to participate in our discussions. I assumed you have gone through and read the Unit Competency of ICPMM263B Access and the use of Internet and have viewed the PowerPoint presentation. My apologies for not being able to enable the narration bit but I have come up with another way to learn more about Access and the use of the Internet.
Here is the link again:**http://jimmyedson.com/assessment/Unit_Competencies/ICPMM263B.htm**.

Once you are familiar with the content of this Unit's requirement, I ask that you go to our next step of learning called: "THE WEB AT A GLANCE" .
This is an overview of the 2 elements required in this unit which are:
1. Identify and use local resources

Please go to the link below to view THE WEB AT A GLANCE. Before you do that here are the instructions to follow:

  • When you click on the link, a page will appear that will say, "The Web At A Glance: Get Started."
  • Below that you will have numbers from 1-20 in red colour. Besides those numbers are related topics that you will be clicking to read.
  • When you click each topics it will take you again to another page where it will explain in simple terms what is relevant to that topic.
  • Use the < BACK> button to go back to where you started.
  • Take notes as there will be an exercise that you will be doing individually to test your knowledge
  • Close the webpage after reading or you can add to favourites the link for further use
  • You will be notified through email of the exercise that you have to do!

All the best and remember, "You Only Fail When You Stop Trying"
